ANATOMY OF AN EX is an exhibition of small works examining the people, places and things that are no longer part of our lives.

An ex is not necessarily a former lover. An ex can be a friend, a parent, a place, a sibling, a mentor, anyone or anything that occupied an intimate space in our lives and whose absence, by choice or circumstance, has come to define us.

At its core, ANATOMY OF AN EX creates a site to process what has had no other place to go.

To anatomize is to examine by taking apart. Through smaller, intimate works that function as fragments, specimens, relics, and evidence, artists are invited to revisit what remains: a memory, an object, a wound, a photograph, a sentence, a habit, a version of ourselves.

The deliberately small scale of the work mirrors the fragmented nature of memory itself. We rarely retain an entire person. We retain pieces.

The exhibition offers space for the conversation that never happened, the question that was never answered, the anger that had nowhere to go, the gratitude never expressed, the boundary that arrived too late, or the goodbye that never found its language. It asks artists not simply to represent an absence, but to give material form to something that has remained unresolved, unspoken, or without a place to exist.

This is not an exercise in reconciliation, forgiveness, or blame. Instead, ANATOMY OF AN EX considers expression itself as a form of completion: the possibility that something can be acknowledged without being repaired, understood without being excused, and articulated without ever being delivered.

What remains when someone no longer has access to us?

What was never given a place to be said?

And what becomes possible when we finally give it one?…
