Part of the ongoing Choice Words series, this work extends Viteri's sustained inquiry into language as both inherited structure and site of reclamation. Conceived specifically to be exhibited in a church, the work repeats a single phrase, one borrowed from Sunday sermons — God's plan never fails — transforming declaration into mantra. Repetition here is not ornament but methodology: what is internalized through iteration begins, quietly, to both author reality and lose power.

Situated within a traditional Christian space, Certainty considers those that have been marginalized by the Church, specifically affirming LGBTQ+ people, while resisting human interpretations of faith. The phrase God’s plan never fails, operates as both profession of faith and reclamation of authority, a declaration that no institution holds authorship over one’s relationship with the divine. The work questions the assurance with which we make these judgements, while the purposeful repetition brings to light the mindlessness of prayer.

Certainty reclaims spiritual space as a site of radical self-possession insisting that devotion, held on one's own terms, constitutes an act of quiet defiance. It interrogates what it means to assert certainty within a body historically asked to doubt itself, locating in that assertion not resignation but agency.
